The Deep End Collective

The Deep End Collective is an artist-run feminist theatre/film collective anchored by Jenna Turk, that creates work inspired by real people, places, or events and imaginatively turns them on their heads.

The Deep End refers to:

i) "going off the deep end" meaning to go mad; give way

ii) "diving into the deep end" meaning the area of a swimming pool where the depth of water is greatest; where the unknown and the fear are also greatest

JENNA TURK (she/her)

A theatre and filmmaker originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Jenna is now based in Calgary, Alberta. Between 2016-2020, she was Theatre Calgary’s Artistic Associate where she assisted in season programming, curated new play development projects, and founded TC Mentors, a mentorship program designed to act as a link between independent theatre practices and an established ‘A’ house. She has a BFA in Acting from the University of Windsor and a MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph. In 2020, Jenna shot her first short film, Bearcat, with the support of the Herland Mentorship Program for Emerging Women in Film under the guidance of Sandi Somers. Hooked, she then quickly shot her second, Bungalow! She’s currently the Script Coordinator on Billy The Kid, Season 2, is the proud auntie of Harry and Dot, and in love with her cat, Beans.  Jenna believes in kindness, honesty, and rigour in her artistic practice.
